Red Rover Ventures is a brand new non profit organization out of Ann Arbor, Michigan dedicated to improving the quality of life the globe over, starting with what they know, ophthalmology in Grand Blanc. And like any good start up, they needed some branding.

Through some connections, I had the fortune to meet Dr. Robin Ross and her team. They needed a website, graphics, the whole nine yards. And I’ve been fortunate enough to work with her world-renowned team to make these things happen for her.

The logo, of course, was an important first step. After many revisions and lots of work, we came down to this excellent design. You can see more about how this came to be here.

These guys mean business! That’s why the first thing they asked for was a professional opener. My “interview question” as I think of it was creating this awesome animation for their new site and for a bumper to videos.

Now did it end up this awesome out of the gate? It was actually pretty close, but there were many additions, which I talk about here.

All of this was leading up to our first major project release, a video! In this first video, we really wanted to capture the importance of sight to these amazing patients and the difficulties involved in keeping such an important sense intact that we often take for granted. The skill of the RRV team cannot be understated in their ability to heal these people who would today otherwise not have the vision they have now.

The best part about my job is our family makes one great team. And for this next step, I sure needed the help from Jake and Katt! Quickly after I started with RRV, we knew we wanted to make videos. Of all the ideas we came up with though, we knew this was the one to start with.

Now, I wish I could credit myself with such great images, but they are actually all Jake’s! It was all a team effort to make these come together, with Jake behind the lens.

When we set out to do our video of RRV, are first focus was to generate content in general, both for the video and till help fill a website. I knew I couldn’t capture all the nuance of the practice like Jake could and I certainly couldn’t do it alone, so I made sure we had Jake’s help for the whole shoot. Since the shot you see on the top here became one of the most prominent images for RRV, he hit a home run!

RRV has an additional branch called Red Rover Fair Trade. Acting as a fair trade merchant here in the U.S., they import hand made goods from other countries for retail in the U.S.

RRFT wanted to show just how much goes into these products, and just how much it improves the lives of those fortunate enough to be able to do the work. Jake and I were sent to film all that goes into one of those products.
